Upgrade from RHEL 7 to RHEL 8

I am working on upgrading my current cluster from RHEL 7 to RHEL 8. My front-end is OpenNebula 6.4 and my storage/hypervisor nodes are 6.4.

My main question and/or concern…Is it possible/safe to run the front-end on RHEL 8 v6.4 and have the hypervisors run RHEL 7 v6.4? I’d like to be able to create a new RHEL 8 front-end server, migrate the DB and OpenNebula settings, and then just swap the IP from the existing node to the new node without having to worry about the hypervisors yet.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

As long as the version is the same, you should have no problems. Also, the operating system could be something else, like Debian, Ubuntu, etc.
