Just my opinion… For doing it now within OpenNebula.
Why not boot a vm with context scripts and services such as clonezilla or fog http://www.fogproject.org/
And you bare-metal-deploy to PXE clients using custom context scripts

I remember on 1st OpenNebula conf I saw this that was kind of newborn, now seems more mature and I have to get it a run too. Seems cool but never checked out.
