Data stores on NFS shares

I have created successfully mounted NFS shares on my nodes and front end. on the servers themselves they are fully functional and showing the correct capacity and file structure.

however when i try to create datastores in sunstone using these shares, the share is created but shows no capacity. I checked the oned log and found this error:

i cant find any info on the 255 exit code, i have checked the permissions which seem good, the account password on my servers for oneadmin, is the same as the account being used to connect to the NAS, and using the account to manually map and mount works just fine.

its just sunstone that cant seem to monitor the data stores. I looked to see if i could find config info for the host nodes to correct any issues, the host monitoring is just fine.
Versions of the related components and OS (frontend, hypervisors, VMs):
All nodes front and back are on almalinux 9, all running server with kvm host, i run a GUI on fron end for convenience. The version of opennebula is 6.8.0.

Can anyone point me to a possible remedy or where to look deeper for possible answers.

Any help gratefully received. Im new to OpenNebula so be kind…

Hi @David_Mason, welcome to the forum!

Don’t worry if you are new to using OpenNebula, we’ll try to debug this problem little by little.

So first of all, when you refer to this:

ts just sunstone that cant seem to monitor the data stores.

You mean, that on the CLI everything shows correct? I don’t think so, since the logs in oned.log showed an error on the monitor itself, but I would like to confirm that

You can execute in the Frontend, the node where you run OpenNebula, the command onedatastore list to see your datastores and the command onedatastore show <datastore_id> to see the full body information about a certain datastore.

Best,
Victor.

Hey Victor

Apologies for the slow reply i had to jump on to another project for a while.

We have decided to do a reinstall of the front end and a single node to make sure we have not missed anything, as the NFS mounts were doing other weird things.

I will close this for now and see if we can eradicate the nfs issues first.

Thank you so much Victor for responding I did not want to waste your time trying to help us resolve an issue that is user error on our behalf.

we may come back again later but will try to make sure its not an
“us” thing first.

really appreciate the assist if you are ever in SIngapore yell and ai will buy you a beer or two to say thanks.
