Reset mysql root password/safe to shut down OpenNebula

Hi All,

The root password for mysql used by my OpenNebula deployment has been lost and I need to reset this.

Unless I am mistaken, this involves stopping mysql.

So I think it is necessary to stop the OpenNebula services that make use of mysql. Is this safe to do so? VMs are not going through any state changes, they are either RUNNING or POWEROFF.

Many thanks!

The VMs even though they are managed by the main OpenNebula daemon (oned which is the service that uses the database) through a hypervisor driver, do not require an active connection to oned. The service is only required to perform active actions on the VM, in fact, for upgrading, you need to stop such service.

Thanks very much!

Password reset fine.
