Can anyone tell me why instances have to be powered ON to create a snapshot? I ask because when reverting to a live VM snapshot, the instances are very unstable most likely due to massive clock changes.
It would be nice to shut down the instance and cut a snapshot of the dormant filesystem. I’m running Linux instances on a vCenter/ESXi hypervisor which supports this behavior.
Versions of the related components and OS (frontend, hypervisors, VMs):
- OpenNebula 5.10.3
- vCenter/ESXi 6.5
Steps to reproduce:
- Power off instance
- Attempt to snapshot
- Greyed out button in Sunstone
Expected results:
- Power off instance
- Create snapshot
- Boot instance
- Power off instance
- Revert to snapshot
