Installation on Ubuntu 15.10

Hello,

I’m struggling to install opennebula 4.14 on my Ubuntu wily (15.10) system.
When I do everything as it is described in the quickstart guide for 15.04 I stuck when I try to install opennebula using apt-get.
This is what I get:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
opennebula : Depends: liblog4cpp5 but it is not installable
Depends: libxmlrpc-c++8 but it is not installable

When I try to install the dependencies separately the result is:

Package liblog4cpp5 is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or
is only available from another source
However the following packages replace it:
  liblog4cpp5v5:i386 liblog4cpp5v5

After doing some research the only fix I found was to install the packages manually.
Is that still the only solution for that problem?
I can’t install an older version since in need to use the GPU virtualisation.

Thank you!

That Ubuntu version is not supported so there are no packages for it. You can try two things:

  • Add Ubuntu 15.04 packages repostory to install those missing packages
  • Generate packages for your distro. Remember to change the dependencies to match the new package names. You can find the sources inside this tar.gz:

http://downloads.opennebula.org/packages/opennebula-4.14.2/Ubuntu-15.04/

hi @jfontan I’m using Ubuntu 16.04 but I’m trying to use http://downloads.opennebula.org/repo/4.14/Ubuntu/15.04/ repository.

When I install opennebula, I see only opennebula 4.12.3 being installed. Can you please let me know how to install 4.14 version on my machine.

Appreciate your help

It seems that Ubuntu 15.10 does not like our Ubuntu 15.04 repositories and you are installing the version that comes from Ubuntu repos.

We don’t have packages for 15.10 and right now we are focused on release 5.0 that will come with packages for 14.04 and 16.04.

thanks for posting this, I was just wondering if I should install my customers 2 new Servers with Ubuntu 16.04.
So I will stick with 14.04 and the opennebula 4.14 packages. seems like the best bet at the moment.

all the best
