I’ve just upgraded to 6.10 and was quite excited to try out the new “fully featured” FireEdge Sunstone (admittedly, I’ve been feeling extreme pain while using the old one).
Unfortunately… there’s a list of functions I just can’t find, and there’s no good documentation.
It’d be good if we can create a list of counter-intuitive things to help others migrating! For example, I’m currently unable to figure out:
1 - How to clone a template from the MarketPlace (I navigate to it, search, select a template - and end up in a page with no options, just info)
2 - How to edit a VM Template in “text form” (Advanced mode in old Sunstone)
So glad to hear that you’ve started to use the new version of Sunstone. Your feedback it’s so useful to us.
About the problems that you mentioned:
It’s true that when you select an app in the Apps tab of the Marketplaces section there is no action enabled to perform on this App. We’ve opened an issue to solve that problem in future versions of OpenNebula. In the meatime, if you want to clone a template, you need to go to the VM Templates section, select the template and you be able to clone it using the action buttons:
We’re sorry but we’ve decided to not add the edit “text form” on the new Sunstone. Every change that you need on the template could be done using the new Sunstone app.
Hey David, thanks for the follow up. I’m not sure I follow you on the first point - under VM Templates, I only see templates I have locally. Without the ability to clone from MarketPlace, how am I supposed to use a template I’ve never seen before, from the ONE MarketPlace?
On 2 - oh, sad news. It was really handy for quickly scanning/comparing templates. I guess I’ll have to move this use case to cli when old Sunstone goes away.
About the first point, could you give a me a screenshot in the old Sunstone where I can see the action that is missing in the new Suntone? I think I misunderstood something here so I want to be sure that we are talking about the same action.
Anyway, as I said in the previous answer, we opened an issue to add these actions when you click on an app that is clicked in the Apps tab of a Marketplace, but in the meantime you can make this actions using the Apps section.
In this case, I don’t think it makes fully sense to carry over the sae actions to MarketPlace? The Apps view is quite handy, although confusing at the beginning.
