OpenNebula 6.10 - Add hosts from Microsoft Azure platform

Hello,

I’ve recently installed OpenNebula in three local nodes. One for front-end and two for hosts node. Correctly configured and started a couple VMs to test some functionalities.

All good so far.

Would like to know if it’s possible now to integrate my “cloud” with some hosts from Microsoft Azure. I’ve seen there is the FireEdge UI provisioning system but it seems like I can only connect to AWS, Equinix and On-Premise datasource, eventually enabling “virtual” in the conf files, since I can only see “metal” now.

I’ve seen the driver for Azure was deprecated from 6.x onward… and would like to know if this is possible and how can be done. Documentation just show steps for the three I’ve cited.

Your Provider Catalog https://opennebula.io/provider-catalog/ does not even show Microsoft Azure, so I guess I’m in no luck here. Correct?

Unfortunately yes, for 6.x the integration is only with those services.

Main reason is that Microsoft changed the driver and the compatibility got affected (there’s a BlogPost about latest driver supported, with some details).

However I have good news, starting with 7.0, the team is working on a redefinition of OneProvision, making it simpler to integrate and use other providers (or, hopefully, any provider).

7.0 is targeted for May, so it shouldn’t take too much to make it work as you need it.
