Is there a plan to decouple changing the main logo via sunstone-views.yaml and the favicon? Or is there at least some way around it? We use the logo to display a warning to users and don’t really want this as the favicon as well.

Good question! This is something we’ve been thinking about since we first rolled out the custom branding feature. Decoupling the main logo from the favicon is definitely on our radar, and giving more control over branding is in the plans for future updates. I can’t say exactly when it will happen, but it’s definitely something we’re looking to improve.
