OpenNebula 6.8 "Rosette" is out 🚀

With great joy, we can announce it’s finally with us. Our new version of the platform has been released today.

OpenNebula 6.8 “Rosette” is out and brings amazing improvements and features. Amongst the usual bug squashing and other issues solved, there are 3 key features on this release:

  • FireEdge Enhancements: Addition of Virtual Datacenter (VDC) & User Tab to FireEdge Sunstone, showcasing accounting & showback information
  • Backup Jobs: Using Backup Jobs, you can now manage and monitor unified backup policies for multiple VMs efficiently
  • Improved KVM Driver: With the updated KVM drivers, you can fine-tune CPU flags, optimize disks, customize VM video, & boost Windows performance

You can check the full release notes in the Documentation Page.

As usual, OpenNebula 6.8 is named after a Nebula. The Rosette Nebula (also known as Caldwell 49) is an H II region located near one end of a giant molecular cloud in the Monoceros region of the Milky Way Galaxy. The open cluster NGC 2244 (Caldwell 50) is closely associated with the nebulosity, the stars of the cluster having been formed from the nebula’s matter.
